Make yourself GREAT

When opportunity arises, snatch it.

When doubt comes along, beat it.

When insecurity strikes, fight it.

When adversity crosses you, face it.

When difficulty comes your way, endure it.

When love comes around, live it.

And when the alarm clock goes off, DO NOT SNOOZE IT.

Every single day is an opportunity to hop on or continue your path into greatness. Greatness is not a final destination, greatness is a never-ending journey to fulfillment; it’s the famous pursuit of happiness.

It is every man’s dream to be happy, it is an innate desire that is born with us and eventually dies with us. Maya Angelou once said:

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said,

People will forget what you did.

But people will never forget how you made them feel.”

We are moved by emotion, and therefore we strive all our life to attain this incredible and sublime feeling that is <Happiness>.

For that reason it is my deep belief that in order to continue my pursuit of happiness I had to better myself, and that meant several things.

  1. Know myself, truly and honestly.

I needed to really get to know myself, consider what really made me happy, the things I liked and the things I didn’t. For example, accepting that I’m kind of a loner and binging on a Netflix TV show all weekend made me happy. Yup! Sometimes I do prefer watching Netflix than going out for drinks. Unless it involves good wine and tasty meals.

Knowing thyself brings forth the LOVE for oneself.

  1. Eliminate all negativity from your path.

Not everyone likes you, it’s OK. So whoever is stressing you out or causing any type of anxiety, confront them or eliminate them, trust me. By the time you get to love yourself you won’t care what anyone says about you so get on with your happy new life.

  1. Love deeply.

Those who you like and those who you choose to love, keep them close and let them never forget what they are to you. This was a challenge for me for many years. I have never had a problem expressing my opinions, but my feelings, not so much. I figured that even if it was hard I could randomly text my loved ones “I love you” or “Thank you”. That way I didn’t have to wait for a situation to happen to let them know what I felt. But… this is something that I’m still working on day by day.

  1. Be thankful.

Whatever you do have, be thankful for it. If you have clothes on, give thanks. If you ate today, give thanks. If you have a family, give thanks. If you are healthy, be thankful. Always remember there is someone out there that can’t say the same. Its breathtaking to me how powerful being thankful is. Try it.

  1. Pay it forward.

Find something that fills you and give it your all, FOR FREE. The biggest reward is the feeling of having helped someone or some cause. The world is filled with injustice, helping fix it even if it’s one step at a time makes a big difference in other peoples lives and in your heart… a happy heart leads to happiness and that is the greatest achievement of them all.

Now the only question remaining is… what are you waiting for?

XOXO,

C
